Within 20 to 25 minutes of 2103 Germander Ln in Fulshear, you can tour a working ranch with 1890s history, hike past alligators at a Texas state park, stargaze through a research-grade telescope, and shop a Saturday farmers market. This guide rounds up the best weekend outings near Fulshear, with hours, fees, and drive times checked on October 13, 2026.

George Ranch Historical Park: Texas history on FM 762

George Ranch Historical Park sits on FM 762, about 10 to 15 minutes south of Jordan Ranch, and it is the closest full-day outing to the home. The 480-acre living-history site on a working ranch tells the story of four generations of the George family through historic homes, costumed interpreters, and daily ranch work like cattle handling and blacksmithing. General admission is open to the public on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round, with weekday hours added in June and July (Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, $11 for youth ages 5 to 15, and free for ages 4 and under, per the park's official hours page. Check it before you go, because special events can change the schedule.

Brazos Bend State Park and the George Observatory

About 20 to 25 minutes farther down FM 762, Brazos Bend State Park in Needville packs a surprising amount of Texas into 4,897 acres along the Brazos River. The park has about 37 miles of hike and bike trails, fishing, camping, and some of the best birding and alligator-watching close to Houston, with viewing platforms along the trails. The gate is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the entrance fee is $7 per person ages 13 and older, free for ages 12 and under, per Texas Parks and Wildlife. Inside the park, the George Observatory, operated by the Houston Museum of Natural Science, opens to the public on Saturday nights year-round, weather permitting, with advance tickets sold online through the museum's website. Observatory tickets do not include the state park entry fee.

Fulshear Farmers Market: Saturdays year-round

The Fulshear Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. year-round at Forever Fulshear, 9035 Bois d'Arc Lane at FM 1093, with local ranchers, bakers, and makers, and it is pet friendly, per the market's own site. Jordan Ranch's own Sunset Farm also runs a farm stand on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, so there is a local-food option inside the community as well. Both are small, friendly markets where the vendors know their regulars.

Katy Mills and Mary Jo Peckham Park

For a bigger shopping day, Katy Mills is about 20 minutes east on I-10 at 5000 Katy Mills Circle. The Simon-owned outlet mall has roughly 175 stores plus dining and a movie theater, per the mall's site, and it is the closest large retail destination to Fulshear. Closer to home, Mary Jo Peckham Park at 5597 Gardenia Lane in Katy is a favorite with Fulshear families: a stocked fishing lake, miniature golf, a putting green, a six-hole disc golf course, basketball courts, a three-story playground, and walking trails with picnic areas, per Harris County Precinct 4.

Star Fields Park: the on-site option

Closest of all is Star Fields Park inside Jordan Ranch, with sand volleyball, pickleball and tennis courts, a disc golf course, a playground, an amphitheater, and scenic trails, per the community's amenities page. For a zero-drive weekend, that is the default.
